The Barber of Sevilla in Solingen

Cherubini´s Medea at the J.K.Tyl Theatre in Pilsen

Luigi Cherubini: Medea, The J.K.Tyl Theatre in Pilsen - June 2017

Lidové noviny, 8.6.2017, Helena Havlíková

Even though in the Plzeň version Barbora Poláková, as Medea´s confidante, Neris, was left with just the meagre opportunity of a single aria, she used it to spectacular effect, in an impressive display of feeling for the music. Her richly coloured mezzo-soprano has by now become safely settled,  its tone palette further enhanced along with its degree of assurance, intonation-wise, apart from which she also gave proof of her acting prowess in a brilliant characterization of the confidante´s mixture of devotion and stern matter-of-factness in her rapport with her despotic  mistress. She showed there are no small roles, delivering a performance that stood out as one of the evening´s highlights.

The Silesian Theatre´s new production of Carmen has lived up to the audience´s expectations

Georges Bizet: Carmen, Silesian Theatre Opava - April 2016

Opavský deník, 30.4.2016, Jana Gélová

Barbora Polášková´s creation of the title role was excellent by all accounts. The total assurance of her singing and stage presence alike attests to the presence of truly distinctive talents among the young generation of opera singers. The Opava Carmen shatters the myths about "broadly built" divas, being tall and slim, and yet possessed of a beautiful, richly coloured mezzo-soprano.

Hudební rozhledy, 2/2016, Hana Špundová

The suggestive, flawlessly balanced composition, and the artists´ brilliant interpretations, were rewarded by a long, thundering applause. Barbora Polášková truly excelled as Surmena. She sung the part with the utmost convincingness unmarred by even the least technical problem, letting stand out the beautiful colour of her voice.

Opera film about film

National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Ostrava - Three Wishes, October 2015

Theatre News, 9.11.2015, Josef Herman

That may be why he assembled the score from passages diametrically contrasting in terms of style, actually following a pattern known from film sequences or takes, ranging from symphonic music to playful operatic idioms, to 1920s jazz dance forms and the songs of Dinah (a perfect match for the darker-hued suggestive voice and elegant figure of Barbora Polášková).
